PNP braces for possible heightened alert levels

QUEZON CITY -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) is considering an Alert Level 4 scenario in its planning and preparation in the event that some local government units (LGUs) in the country may be placed under the fourth tier of the 5-scale Covid alert level status.

Now that more areas, even in other regions, will be subjected under a stricter Alert Level 3 starting January 9, the PNP gears up for the recalibration of its deployment and strategies.

“We will take the cue from the NCR which has already implemented Alert Level 3 starting Monday, January 3. So far, everything is working smoothly. We instructed our police personnel to be fully aware of the guidelines. If this won’t serve to curb the Covid cases in their area, then there is a bigger possibility that a stricter health protocol will be implemented in their LGU,” PNP Chief General Dionardo Carlos said.

Under Alert Level 4, persons younger than 18 years old, older than 65, with comorbidities and those who are pregnant must stay at home. In effect, Interzonal travel will be allowed except for those not under the stay at home rule.

On-site capacity in establishments and government offices are also limited.

Full cooperation is needed from the public so as to help in controlling the situation in their areas. (PNP)
