MANDALUYONG CITY -- The Philippine Red Cross(PRC) Chairman and CEO Senator Richard "Dick" Gordon continues to reach out to more areas devastated by the recent Super Typhoon Odette to personally hand out IV fluids numbering 470 bottles for diarrhea patients in the Medical Tents right outside Siargao District Hospital.
Last week, Gordon together with the Philippine Red Cross team from the National Headquarters visited Siargao Island and other hard hit areas namely Cebu and Surigao del Norte to personally oversee and assess the situation to be able to bring much needed additional aid from the PRC and it’s partners.
"As the lifeline of the people, we will always that PRC be always ready in every situation where help is needed. No matter the circumstance, we will continue to strengthen our response to help the people, especially the most vulnerable," reiterates Gordon.
Currently catering to seventeen patients, the three PRC medical tents serve as extension wards, providing additional 30 bed capacity to Siargao District Hospital. As operations have commenced at the beginning of the year, one tent caters to pediatric patients currently numbering fourteen, while the other two tents cater to adults and patients needing isolation.
