MANDALUYONG CITY -- Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Payloaders have cleared 2,468 cubic yards of debris to provide access for more relief since the start of Super Typhoon Odette (international name: Rai) rescue and relief operations.
After the onslaught of Super Typhoon Odette which placed Visayas and Mindanao Region under a state of calamity, PRC Chairman Richard Gordon immediately deployed its payloader to hasten relief operations in the affected areas.
“It is part of our commitment to humanity is to restore the lifelines in each area affected by the Typhoon. To make way for more relief, we need to clear the roads so that help can enter to assist the affected residents,” Chairman Gordon said.
Through the leadership of Chairman Gordon, PRC was able to acquire seven payloaders to provide immediate assistance in the clearing operations. The payloaders can also be used to assist farmers and clear desilt farmlands affected by different typhoons.
Last 2016, 8,694 farmers benefited from the deployment of PRC payloader to desilt agricultural lands in 22 barangays of the municipality of Bongabon.
PRC is the only Red Cross Society with a payloader, through the vision of Chairman Gordon, to provide immediate relief to the affected residents.
Chairman Gordon, who has more than 50 years of voluntary service to the PRC, has been into many rescue operations after every typhoon. He knew the necessity of acquiring these payloaders to provide relief since the Philippines is prone to natural disasters.
Through the payloaders, help can arrive immediately, abiding by PRC’s commitment to be always first, always ready, and always there where help is needed. (Philippine Red Cross)
