Samar First DEO build more flood control structures in Samar to protect residents

CALBAYOG CITY – The Samar First District Engineering Office has announced that two (2) more flood control projects were built in Samar to protect the lives of its residents with a total contract amount of P51.7 million.

A flood control structure in barangays Caybago and Pizarro were erected along Gandara River which is a stream in Samar province that runs moving to a lower level in a channel on land.

These structures will alleviate flooding in communities around said area and will decrease the stormwater flow rate in order to prevent water overflow.

Barangay Caybago is now protected with 154 linear-meter flood control structure and a 10-meter height whilst, Barangay Pizarro has 161.30-meter length and eight-meter height.

Additionally, part of the scope of work is a 1.5-meter width of walkway built along the structure and a 0.8-meter height of parapet. (GMT/DPWH-SFDEO)
