New DPWH Biliran building soon to rise at gov't center

NAVAL, Biliran -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) will be constructing a new standard 2-storey office building that will rise at the government center of Biliran in Brgy. Larrazabal, Naval town.

District Engineer Fedinand A. Briones revealed that the construction of the building will start this year with a total budget allocation of P40M under the 2022 General Appropriation Act (GAA) fund.

This building is physically challenged person-friendly and features a modern design with a concrete vertical sun breaker, roof deck floor and landscape at portion of its roof deck and along the perimeter side of the building at ground floor.

This new structure, according to DE Briones, is also designed to be typhoon and earthquake-resilient with its curtain wall system design.

A curtain wall is an outer covering of a building made of glass, designed to protect the building interior against the exterior natural phenomena such as earthquake, rain, wind, sun exposure and temperature changes.

Briones said this project is already bid out and will start anytime soon once there is already Notice to Proceed (NTP).

The completion of this new office building will enhance the work environment of Biliran DEO employees as well as its services to the public. (DLWH-BDEO)
