MANDALUYONG CITY -- With the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases as Omicron sweeps through many parts of the archipelago, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), led by Chairman and CEO Senator Dick Gordon furthers its capacity to respond to the ongoing pandemic by partnering with the Provincial Government of Bataan's Mariveles District Hospital.
"The PRC puts a high premium on health, so urgent action is required to arrest the rising human toll from the ongoing pandemic. Aggressive, pro-active means are needed to isolate and treat COVID-positive individuals, plus vaccination of more people are proven methods for our country to fight this virus, " reiterates PRC Chairman and CEO Senator Dick Gordon.
According to the PRC Bataan Chapter, the isolation facility can accommodate 75 hospital beds catering to mild and asymptomatic COVID-19 cases. As of yesterday, the humanitarian organization has provided 65 hospital beds, beddings, oxygen tanks, and electric fans. Additionally, the Chapter said that there are plans to add a field hospital right outside the Mariveles District Hospital (MDH), equipped with oxygen tanks, an ECG machine, PPV and intubation set, Automated External Defibrillator, and other basic ward facilities that will treat mild to severe cases.
As of January 25, 2022, the PRC has now served 5,091 patients in its four operational isolation facilities with a 476 bed capacity. (Philippine Red Cross)
