NAVAL,Biliran -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) continues its clearing operations in Typhoon Odette-affected areas in Southern Leyte.
DPWH-Biliran DEO's Quick Response Team started its clearing operations on December 20, 2021, days after the onslaught of Typhoon Odette, and continues until present of January 2022 to accelerate clearing activities.
District Engineer Ferdinand A. Briones deployed two heavy equipment operators, four (4) maintenance crew, one (1) unit dump truck, one (1) payloader, two (2) chainsaws, and one (1) bolt cutter.
Areas cleared by the quick response team of the district office are: Maasin City, Saint Bernard town, Junction of Brgy. Himay-angan to Brgy. Silago in Liloan town to Brgy. Abuyog, Leyte boundary road, and Brgy. Tabugon, Liloan road.
As of this writing, clearing operation from Brgy. San Roque to the town proper of Liloan is still ongoing.
Clearing activities include cutting of fallen trees, clearing of road shoulders, and removal/ hauling of debris.
DPWH-Biliran DEO together with other 12 DEOs in Region 8 works hand-in-hand to make all roads passable in Southern Leyte especially for the fast and safe transport of relief assistance. (DPWH-BDEO)
