DPWH Tacloban assists in relief distribution to 5 remote villages in San Ricardo, Southern Leyte

TACLOBAN CITY -- The relief operations team of the Department of Public Works and Highways - Tacloban City District Engineering Office (DPWH-TCDEO), headed by Arlene Ballon, OIC chief of the Administrative Section and accompanied by the Administrative and Maintenance Section staff, pushed through with the distribution of its 3rd batch of relief goods to five distant barangays of San Ricardo, Southern Leyte on January 21. These five barangays include Looc, Kinachawa, San Ramon, Bitoon, and Saub.

On the office’s previous distribution to Brgy. Looc, residents from the near barangays were observed to be hoping that they would be able to receive  relief packs, however, the office was only able to generate and prepare enough number of packs for one barangay.

With the given situation, generous donors have seen their struggles and heard their pleas which encouraged them to volunteer and extend help through cash and goods donation. Having been able to receive enough donations, the office was able to launch its third batch of relief operations.

A total of 550 families were able to receive one bag of relief goods containing 2 meters sakoline trapal, 3 kilos of rice, noodles, powdered milk, chocolate powdered drink, coffee, canned goods, sugar, detergent bar, and used clothing.

The District Office is beyond grateful to all private sponsors/donors who have generously shared their blessings and extended help to those who have been devastated by Typhoon Odette and for trusting the office in leading the distribution of relief packs. (DPWH-TCDEO)
