MANDALUYONG CITY -- The ongoing surge of COVID-19 cases has affected thousands upon thousands of individuals with the country tallying 25,000 new cases daily on average in the past three weeks. Due to this spike in cases, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) intensified its vaccination program through the continuous deployment of their Bakuna Buses, Bakuna Centers, and Bakuna teams that vaccinated 4,467 individuals on January 26, 2022.
The strategic locations across the country of the PRC’s 26 Bakuna Centers alone has allowed them to vaccinate 1,944 individuals. These figures illustrate the substantial activities of the Centers in combating the spread of COVID-19.
In the meantime, the fleet of PRC Bakuna Buses continue to travel to far-flung areas of the archipelago, vaccinating 1,472 individuals.
Additionally, the PRC Bakuna Teams also assisted the different LGUs in Cagayan, Lucena, Quezon, Iligan, Basilan, Agusan del Norte, Sultan Kudarat and Bataan and were able to vaccinate 1,051 individuals in these areas.
PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon said that the continuous round-the-clock operations of the Bakuna Centers, Bakuna Buses, and Bakuna Teams are there to augment the local government units (LGU) in their efforts to vaccinate more individuals to secure protection from the virus.
With the current trend of ascending COVID-19 cases in the country, PRC Chairman Gordon encourages everyone to get vaccinated for immunity and protection against the highly transmissible virus and its variants.
“Inilalapit na ng Red Cross ang mga Bakuna Centers sa inyong mga lugar upang mas marami ang ating maprotektahan. Patuloy natin isinasagawa ang ating bakuna upang makabalik na ang tao sa trabaho, makapasok na ulit ang mga bata sa eskwelahan, at mabuksan na ulit ang mga kabuhayaan ng mga apektado ng COVID-19 pandemic,” Gordon said.
To date, PRC's Bakuna Centers and Bakuna Buses nationwide have already administered almost a million doses for over 800,000 individuals. (Philippine Red Cross)
