DPWH Biliran distributes emergency 'Go Bag' to employees

NAVAL, Biliran -- The Department of Public Works and Highways - Biliran District Engineering Office (DPWH-BDEO) equips employees with Emergency “Go Bags” useful for any disasters or emergency situations.

District Engineer Ferdinand A. Briones and Assistant District Engineer Alfredo L. Bollido led the distribution of the “Go Bag” on January 27 to a total of 211 employees including its job order personnel.

Packed inside the “Go Bag” are emergency supplies which contains first aid kit, hygiene kit, sleeping bag, flashlight, power bank, water bottle, foldable eating utensils, raincoat set, cargo pants, shirts and jacket, which are very handy and useful in case of evacuations.

According to Briones, this “Go Bag” can aid a person within the next 72 hours even if there aren’t any form of rescue in times of disaster.

This initiative is part of the Disaster Preparedness Program of the Department’s Bureau of Maintenance as one among many disaster preparedness advocacies that promotes a holistic disaster risk reduction management and continuing efforts to build disaster resiliency and sustainability at all levels.
