High ranking NPA leaders yield to army in Far South Mindanao Region

MAASIM, Sarangani – High-Value Individuals of Dismantled Guerilla Front (DGF) TALA and Guerilla Front (GF) MUSA, Far South Mindanao Region (FSMR) of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) surrendered to 73rd Infantry (Neutralizer) Battalion, 10ID, PA and 38th Infantry Battalion, 6ID, PA last January 19, 2022, at So Lebe, Brgy Kablacan, Maasim, Sarangani Province.

They were identified as Remydio S Sambilad alias YOYONG/BOYAKS, Secretary of Dismantled Guerilla Front TALA, Far South Mindanao Region; Benny A Española alias JAY-AR, former Deputy Secretary, DGF TALA, FSMR; Mary Jane Pason alias NICOLE, former Medical Officer, DGF TALA; Revelyn Pason alias JINKY, former Finance Officer, DGF TALA; Meylen Laugo Tangan alias APRIL and Jesabel Shangga Tango alias BABY COLOT, both Medical Officers of GF MUSA, FSMR.

Said surrender was made possible through the cooperation of Marilyn Bago alias CHE-CHE who surrendered to 73IB last November 06, 2021; and combined efforts of 102MICO; 73rd Infantry Battalion, and 1002nd Infantry Brigade under the supervision of Brigadier General Potenciano C Camba; 38IB, 6ID, PA; 16MICO; NICA 12 and 11th ISU.

In addition, the surrenderees yielded two (2) AK 47 rifles, two (2) M203 grenade launchers, and one (1) M79 grenade launcher. Their return to the folds of law was triggered by a series of neutralization of other high-ranking NPA cadres, physical exhaustion, false promises of the communist movement, lack of support from their mass base, and  the intensified combat operations of the Philippine Army.

Meanwhile, BGen Potenciano C Camba attributed this another significant gain to the government’s effective peace initiatives through the Whole-of-Nation Approach under Executive Order No 70.

Acting 10th Infantry “Agila” Division Commander, BGen Allan D Hambala lauded the troops of 1002nd Infantry “Bagwis” Brigade for their relentless efforts in pursuing the remaining members of the Communist Terrorist Group in their area of operations.

“We again witnessed an incredible feat of our troops and gains like this will continue to happen with the unwavering efforts of the Agila Division and overwhelming support coming from our local chief executives and of the awakened masses,” BGen Hambala added. (10th ID DPAO)
