PALAYAN CITY, Nueva Ecija -- The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has rolled out three housing projects in this province, indicating the government's commitment in expanding its resettlement projects nation-wide.
On Monday morning, DHSUD Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario spearheaded the groundbreaking ceremony for land development of a resettlement project in Brgy. San Roque in the municipality of San Leonardo.
In his message, the housing czar expressed delight over the coming into fruition of the project, being carried out in coordination with the National Housing Authority (NHA) and the San Leonardo LGU.
He cited the subdivision-like development and decent shelters in the project composed initially of 58 housing units, as well as a covered court, saying that land development is a key component in ensuring comfortability among its residents.
"Para itong mga pabahay dito, kapag tinirahan na, para kang sa subdivision. Makikita natin may drainage system at magiging sementado ang mga road networks," the housing czar said.
"Ito ay para maitaas natin ang antas ng pamumuhay ng ating mga kababayan lalo na ang mga tinatawag nating 'poorest of the poor'," he added.
The resettlement facility will benefit underprivileged families in the municipality.
Also gracing the key event were San Leonardo Mayor Froilan Nagaño, DHSUD Regional Office 3 Director Felix Brazil Jr and DHSUD Housing and Real Estate Development and Regulation Bureau OIC-Director Angel Aguila, as well as regional representatives from the NHA.
Later in the day, Secretary Del Rosario graced another groundbreaking ceremony - in Palayan City - for the expansion of land development on an existing NHA resettlement site intended for informal settler families.
The housing czar vowed support to help the Palayan City LGU to fast-track the project's completion.
"Kami ay nandito ngayon to ensure that these projects will immediately start. Our officials are here to provide the necessary funding once documentations are presented to us so that the projects will be completed on time. The Department is willing to work with Palayan City and we assure our total support," Secretary Del Rosario noted.
The DHSUD chief also signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Palayan City officials, led by Mayor Adrianne Mae Cuevas, for the construction of a daycare center and a multi-purpose covered court.
The groundbreaking activity comes three months following the finalization of an accord between DHSUD and the Palayan City LGU.
On Tuesday morning, Secretary Del Rosario graced the groundbreaking and MOA-signing for site development of socialized housing projects in barangays Cabugao and Concepcion in the municipality of Sto. Domingo.
The project will benefit informal settler families, most especially those living in "danger zones". It includes the construction of a multi-purpose covered court and a daycare center for each barangay.
In his message, Secretary Del Rosario stressed that the projects are part of the government's unwavering public service to deliver decent and sustainable Filipino communities. (DHSUD)
