Teams from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) are working to support the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) operations for Super Typhoon Odette in the hard- struck Dinagat Islands, Siargao, and Surigao Del Norte.
ICRC provided urgent relief with food kits, essential household items, kitchen sets, and drinking water to affected communities. At the same time, PRC also received satellite phones, generators, and multipurpose tents for the volunteers deployed to provide immediate medical assistance and for re-establishing contact with the families separated by the recent typhoon.
According to the PRC Disaster Management Services, more aid will arrive from the ICRC Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland in the coming weeks. The PRC, through the leadership of Chairman and CEO Senator Dick Gordon, will continue to work hand in hand with the ICRC to reach out to those most in need. (Philippine Red Cross)
