PASAY CITY -- The Office of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go distributed assistance to solo parents in San Pablo City, Laguna on Friday, February 11.
Following the necessary safety and health protocols, Go’s staff provided meals and masks to a total of 1,000 solo parents at the San Pablo Covered Court.
In a video message, Go urged the beneficiaries to participate in the national vaccination program to ensure that they are protected from COVID-19.
The senator’s team also gave select residents computer tablets, shoes and bicycles to help them commute in areas with limited public transportation options.
As part of the ongoing government efforts to mitigate the adverse impacts of the pandemic on vulnerable sectors, personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development also provided financial assistance.
Meanwhile, the senator offered additional support to those in need of medical care. He advised them to visit San Pablo City General Hospital or Laguna Medical Center in Sta. Cruz where there are Malasakit Centers ready to assist them with their hospital and other medical-related expenses.
Established in 2018, the Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop which brings together the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office under one roof to provide particularly poor and indigent patients with convenient access to medical assistance programs. Go is the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act.
“Mayroon na ho tayong 149 na Malasakit Center sa buong Pilipinas na handang tumulong po sa mga poor and indigent patients, zero balance po ang target po ng Malasakit Center,” said the senator.
