ORMOC CITY -- The Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) Ormoc Campus, Local Government Unit of Ormoc City, and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Leyte met recently at the EVSU Ormoc Campus to finalize the floor layout of the proposed Food Sustainability Institute of the University.
This is to ensure compliance to standards of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and its requirements for License to Operate (LTO) as issued by the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), Philippines.
Following its mandate as a University, the facility was designed to be used for instruction, research, community engagement and production of innovative technologies related to food sustainability.
Among its plans is the hosting of some DOST projects in the city involving food processing. The aim is to assist boost the agriculture and tourism sectors by developing food products from raw materials locally grown.
During the said meeting, it was agreed that a more comprehensive planning workshop between and among the three institutions will be done on the last week of February 2022.
The EVSU Ormoc Campus was represented by Campus Director Dr. Gerry De Cadiz and other officials, while the Ormoc City LGU was represented by the City Agriculturist, and DOST Leyte was represented by PSTD John Glenn Ocaña with Ms. Kristhyl Tunggol and Engr. Andrei Makabenta. (GTT/DOST Leyte)
