TACLOBAN CITY -- The Office of Civil Defense 8 (OCD-8) represented by Regional Director Lord Byron P. Torrecarion spearheaded a gift-giving and relief distribution activity in Brgy. San Jose, Malitbog, Southern Leyte on February 12.
Some 287 children and 316 families received 100 shelter kits, 300 G.I. sheets, 150 boxes of bottled water, 50 portable stoves, butane canisters, family packs, assorted toys and food packs from the different agencies and organizations.
As a whole-of-nation approach, the OCD-led relief operation was joined by agencies and organizations such as the Executive Motorcycle Riding Course (EMCRC) Class 23-2021, Southern Leyte Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (SLPSWDO), Office of the President, Hiraya Tacloban, Knights of Rizal, Kusog Sinirangan Eagles Club, Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office (SLPPO), and the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO 8).
The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 8 also participated in the said event headed by the Regional Director Arnaldo E. Escober Jr., who was joined by Southern Leyte Provincial Director Geraldine C. Maquelabit; and Maureen Evita S. Balili, MLGOO of Malitbog.
Also present to show support were Alrico Comajig, MASSO/MPDC designate; Assistant Regional Director Joshua Garcio of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency 8; Col. Erwin Rommel Lamzon, assistant division commander of the Philippine Army, 8ID; PBGen. Joel Limson, deputy regional director for administration of PRO-8; PCol. Michael David, SLPPO provincial director; PLt. Arthur Atiwag, chief of police, Malitbog MPS; SFO4 Joel Jarabe, OIC fire marshal; PSWDO Lucia Balantad; MSWDO Majalalel Flores; Regional Consultant Marjorie Jaramilla of the Office of the President; and Punong Barangay Marina Rosal.
