PASAY CITY -- Senator Christopher “Bong” Go renewed his appeal to the public to continue supporting the government’s pandemic efforts particularly its national vaccination program during a relief activity organized by his office for the Veterans Golf Club workers in Quezon City on Monday, February 28.
“Tuluy-tuloy pa rin po ang pagbabakuna. Kung ano po ang bakunang nasa harapan ninyo ay magpabakuna na po kayo. Huwag kayong matakot sa bakuna,” Go said in a video message.
“Ang bakuna ang susi at solusyon para tayo ay makabalik sa ating normal na pamumuhay katulad noon kung saan nayayakap natin ang ating kapwa Pilipino,” he stressed.
Go’s outreach team distributed meals and masks to 283 caddies and staff of the Veterans Golf Club. They also gave select individuals a computer tablet and a new pair of shoes.
Staff from the Department of Social Welfare and Development were likewise present to extend financial support to the workers through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program.
“Sana po’y nasa mabuti kayong kalagayan. Alam ko pong mahirap po ang panahon ngayon, nasa gitna tayo ng krisis dulot ng COVID-19. Kailangan pong magtulungan tayo, magbayanihan po tayo, at magmalasakit po tayo sa ating kapwa Pilipino,” Go reminded.
The senator, who serves as the Chair of the Senate Committee on Health, offered additional assistance to those who need medical care as he advised them to visit any of the 11 Malasakit Centers in the city, including the nearest one at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop which houses desk representatives from the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. There are currently 150 Malasakit Centers that have served more than three million poor and indigent patients nationwide. Go is the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019.
To further improve the public service delivery in the city, Go, who is also the Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, supported the construction of an advanced Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Vertical Expansion of New ER Building in East Avenue Medical Center, the rehabilitation of road networks of Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center and Veterans Memorial Medical Center, and the construction of several multipurpose buildings.
He also supported other projects across Metro Manila, such as the construction of multipurpose buildings and halls in the cities of Mandaluyong and Parañaque; acquisition of ambulance units in the cities of Manila, Navotas, Parañaque, Taguig and Valenzuela; acquisition of multipurpose vehicles in the cities of Manila and Muntinlupa; rehabilitation of facilities in Navotas Polytechnic College in Navotas City; and the construction of a seven-storey Valenzuela Center for Academic Excellence in Valenzuela City.
He was also instrumental in the improvement of Rizal Medical Center in Pasig City through the acquisition of medical equipment and the construction of a seven-storey multi-specialty building inside the center.
Ending his message, the senator acknowledged the commitment of the local leaders to ensure that their constituents are well-supported amid the pandemic.
“Mga kababayan ko, kami po ni Pangulong (Rodrigo) Duterte ay narito lang po na handang magserbisyo po sa inyong lahat sa abot ng aming makakaya. Magtulungan lang po tayo, magmalasakit at magbayanihan po tayo upang malampasan natin ito bilang nagkakaisang mamamayang Pilipino,” he concluded.
Last February 24, Go’s team provided similar aid to indigent families in Barangay Pasong Tamo. (OSBG)
