MALAY, Aklan -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC), was quick to act when a fire incident happened in Malay, Aklan on March 2, which damaged 14 houses, affecting 114 individuals. The PRC local chapter immediately deployed its staff and volunteers to provide much-needed relief to the affected families.
PRC Welfare Services conducted psychological support to six individuals, distributed bread to 14 families affected and provided blankets, mats, and hygiene kits to serve as temporary sleeping kits as the houses were damaged by the fire.
“Marami na ang kaso ng sunog sa buong Pilipinas, lalo na at tag-init ngayon. mag-ingat tayo sa ating mga kagamitan at ipractice natin ang fire safety upang hindi pa makapinsala sa iba. Ang fire safety ay isang responsibilidad ng bawat isa upang maiwasan ang sunog sa ating mga kabahayan,” PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon said.
In observance of fire prevention month, PRC reminds the public of the importance of fire safety in March, which is said to have the most number of fire incidents due to the peaking of temperatures. With a total fleet of 19 fire trucks, PRC is ready to help the local government unit to be always first, always ready, and always there to respond to fire emergencies. (Philippine Red Cross )
