QUEZON CITY -- As part of its initiatives to combat online child pornography, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through the Inter-Agency Council Against Child Pornography (IACACP), launched an e-learning training course to equip social workers and other service providers in handling victim-survivors of online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC) during the Safer Internet Day for Children Philippines culminating activity on February 28.
The free e-learning training course uses asynchronous and blended modalities which the target participants may access, depending on their availability, within the prescribed period. The online course includes three hours of interactive lessons, seven hours of video lessons, and links to external resources among others. Each lesson will be followed by quizzes, group discussion forums, and reflection journals to gauge and track the participants’ learning and course progress.
These online video lessons, produced by practitioners and experts from partners and members of the IACACP, are designed to continuously provide current trends, strategies, and skills for members and partners of the Regional Inter-Agency Committee Against Trafficking - Violence Against Women and their Children (RIACAT-VAWC), Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children (RSCWC), and Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) through innovative and interactive capacity building.
Upon completion of the training course, participants will receive a certificate of completion and will acquire Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points.
Mandated through Presidential Proclamation No. 417 in 2018, the Safer Internet Day for Children Philippines celebration is one of the strategies of the government, through the IACACP, to spread awareness on the emerging needs to ensure the protection of children from risks and abuses brought by misuse of the internet or lack of awareness on internet safety.
The DSWD, together with the other council members of IACACP, will continue to lead and give its utmost efforts in creating a safer internet for children and protecting them from all forms of violence and online abuse. (DSWD)
