TACLOBAN CITY -- The Philippine Statistics Authority - Regional Statistical Services Office VIII (PSA-RSSO 8) launched its e-GAD Corner during the National Women’s Month (NWM) Opening Ceremony on March 1.
As discussed by Mr. Miguelito A. Cua, information systems analyst of PSA-RSSO 8, the e-GAD Corner is one of the innovations in the contents of the PSA-RSSO 8 website.
The e-GAD Corner can be found in the drop-down menu of the E-Library/Publications section. It was designed to make sex-disaggregated data accessible to stakeholders and the general public.
These data were compiled from various administrative-based data of national government agencies as well as PSA surveys and censuses.
The site also showcases the policies and laws governing the welfare and protection of women in the Philippines and highlights the corresponding plans and budget of PSA - RSSO 8, in particular, in response to this mandate.
The link to GAD Central Office will navigate researchers further to the various narratives regarding the state of women as gleaned from statistics. Quick links will direct browsers to the website of the Philippine Commission on Women.
Regional Director Wilma A. Perante of PSA-RSSO 8 led the agency’s Virtual Opening Ceremony and discussed in her NWM Message the policy guidelines for the annual conduct of this activity and the NWM subtheme, “Agenda ng Kababaihan Tungo sa Kaunlaran”.
Ms. Mae R. Almonte, chief statistical specialist of the Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (SOCD) stressed in her Opening Speech the importance of recognizing women’s role and contribution in nation-building.
Ms. Zonia C. Salazar, supervising statistical specialist, presented the activities in store for the month-long celebration, and led the zumba in the afternoon.
