MARAWI CITY -- Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) Chairman Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario is proud of the subdivision-like development on resettlement sites now in the final stages of completion to accommodate families of internally displaced persons in Marawi City.
During Thursday’s ceremonial turnover of 250 housing units to Marawi IDPs, Secretary Del Rosario, who also heads the Department of Human Settlements and urban Development, said that all resettlement sites will be finished before the term of the Duterte administration ends on June 30.
The TFBM chief likewise cited the modern housing designs on subdivision-like communities developed jointly by the National Housing Authority, the Social Housing Finance Corp. and the UN Habitat.
Secretary Del Rosario stressed that more than 2,700 permanent shelters will be given by the Duterte administration as grant to the rightful beneficiaries.
“Makikita ninyo na mas maganda pa ito sa mga ibang socialized housing subdivision na pinapagawa ng mga private developers sa Luzon. At makikita ninyo kung gaano kalapad ang ating kalsada, ang ating drainage system, may tubig, may kuryente at ito ay bigay sa inyo ng ating mahal na Pangulong (Rodrigo) Duterte,” Secretary Del Rosario said.
Secretary Del Rosario, along with Mr. Stean Tshiband, Mindanao representative of the United Nations Resident Coordinator; Marawi City Mayor Majul Gandamra, and TFBM Field Office Manager Assistant Secretary Felix Castro Jr., led the awarding of 250 more permanent housing to the IDPs previously living along danger zones in Marawi.
So far, the TFBM has already completed 940 units while the remaining are now in various stages of completion.
Meanwhile, the TFBM head also announced that several major public infrastructure projects along the Lake Lanao will be inaugurated in May this year.
According to Secretary Del Rosario, the Task Force, together with its implementing agencies, is set to inaugurate the Peace Memorial and Rizal Park, the Marawi Museum, School of Living Traditions, the mall-like Grand Padian Market, Sarimanok Sports Complex and Marawi Convention Center in two months’ time in conjunction with the celebration of the Marawi Week of Peace.
"Ito (Marawi rehabilitation) ay maipagmamalaki ng city government, ni mayor, with our partnership, sa pagtutulungan ng LGU ay nagawa natin ito despite numerous challenges,” the housing czar stressed.
Secretary Del Rosario reiterated that the rehabilitation remains on track as he expressed satisfaction on the progress of the rebuilding process.
“I would like to inform the public that I am very satisfied with the progress of the rehabilitation. As I have been saying, we are on track and by June 30 (2022), we will be 90 to 95% complete,” he said. (DHSUD)
