Gordon: Red Cross continues TY Maring ops recovery; 500 families in La Union given livelihood assistance

MANDALUYONG CITY -- Philippine Red Cross Chairman Sen. Dick Gordon directed the PRC La Union Chapter to distribute much-needed livelihood assistance to families affected by TY Maring at the Luna Sports Center on March 17, 2022.

PRC provided livelihood assistance to a total of 500 households affected by Typhoon Maring in La Union to help them restore and repair livelihood assets that were destroyed by the typhoon. PRC continues to assist La Union five months after the typhoon hit the province in October 2021.

Two hundred eighty-six households in the municipality of Luna and 214 in Bangar received livelihood assistance. The first tranche of assistance worth P6,000 was given to the beneficiaries. While, the distribution of the second tranche worth P4,000 will be scheduled in the coming weeks.

“Patuloy tayo sa pag-alalay sa mga kababayan natin sa La Union, para maibalik ang kanilang kabuhayan. Palaging nakahanda ang Red Cross para tumulong,” Chairman Gordon said. Since the typhoon hit, PRC has provided assistance to at least 800 families in La Union in the form of cash, food, water kit, kitchen set, mosquito nets, blankets, sleeping mats, mattresses, hygiene kits, and clothing.
