NAVAL, Biliran -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) has started the construction of various infrastructure projects under CY 2022 funding.
Of its 120 projects, 68 are now ongoing construction while 52 are still "Not-Yet-Started" which includes 19 projects under "For Later Release" (FLR) funding.
The ongoing major infrastructure projects are the P32.46-M road widening in Brgy. Sanggalang, Biliran; P48.2-M road widening in Brgy. Ungali, Kawayan; P47.82-M road widening in Brgy. Catmon, Naval; and P37.6-M road widening in Brgy. Bool, Culaba.
The district office has started the widening of Gueron Bridge along Naval-Caibiran Cross Country Road (NCCCR) and the P47.26-M rehabilitation/major repair of Biliran Bridge along Leyte-Biliran Road.
Meanwhile, three access roads leading to Trade, Industries and Economic Zones under Roads Leveraging Linkages of Industry and Trade (ROLL IT) Program have also started.
These are the P48.25-M construction/improvement of access road leading to NRJ Villa Consuelo connecting to Libtong roadl; P46.69-M construction of access road leading NRJ Agpangi connecting to Sitio Pongon; and the P46.51-M improvement of access road leading to Villa Caneja to Anislagan Road connecting to Anislagan Ceramics Producers Association (ACPA).
Biliran DEO was able to continue the construction of access road leading to Ulan-ulan Falls in Almeria town amounting to P47.85-M, and the P47.9-M construction of Pawikan-Esperanza Diversion Road, Phase II in the town of Cabucgayan.
The district office has also started the P47.87-M rehabilitation/reconstruction of national roads with slips, slope collapse and landslides in Brgy. Bulalacao, Kawayan.
District Engineer Ferdinand A. Briones said he will regularly inspect these ongoing projects to ensure that plans have been correctly followed and are on the right track.
As of February 28, 2022, Biliran DEO achieved 2.16% of its physical accomplishment. (DPWH-BDEO)
