MANDALUYONG CITY -- Three months after Super Typhoon Odette (International name: Rai) hit the country and wreaked havoc in Palawan, Visayas, and the Mindanao Region, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) continues to provide much-needed assistance to the affected families by providing clean and potable water to far-flung areas in those regions. Additionally, PRC has provided a total of 15,000 liters of water to Cebu last March 24, 2022.
PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon ordered the continued deployment of PRC assets to provide humanitarian assistance in areas where lifelines are yet to be restored. The PRC Cebu chapter provided 10,000 liters to Brgy. Dalas-ag, Argao, 5,000 liters to Brgy. Jampang, Argao, and 800 liters to Brgy. Panadtaran, Argao. Aside from water distribution, PRC also conducted hygiene promotion programs with 280 individuals.
“Tatlong buwan na ang nakalipas mula nang hagupitin ng bagyong Odette ang lugar sa iba’t ibang parte ng bansa, ngunit patuloy ang Red Cross sa pagbibigay ng tulong hanggat ang mga apektadong lugar ay nakatayo na sa sariling mga paa. We are fulfilling our responsibility to alleviate human suffering and uplift the dignity of the people,” Gordon said.
