CATARMAN, Northern Samar -- Four peacebuilders who surrendered to the 43rd Infantry Battalion received a package of livelihood assistance and corresponding payment in exchange of surrendered firearms under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
The distribution of financial assistance by the government through the Department of the Interior and Local Government amounting to P272,000 to the four peacebuilders has marked the start of endless government aid.
One received an amount of P15,000 as immediate assistance, P8,000 as firearm remuneration and P50,000 as livelihood assistance with the total of P73,000.
The two regular peacebuilders also received P65,000 each representing P15,000 immediate assistance and P50,000 livelihood assistance, while another one received P69,000 representing P15,000 as immediate assistance, P4,000 as firearm remuneration and P50,000 livelihood assistance.
The checks were presented by Malou Ortego, provincial DILG focal person; assisted by Sec. Hermogenes C. Esperon Jr., national security adviser and vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF ELCAC); Major General Edgardo Y. de Leon, commander of the 8th Infantry Division; Vice Governor Gary Lavin representing Governor Edwin Onchuan of Northern Samar; and Regional Director Arnaldo E. Escober Jr, DILG-8 regional director.
The distribution was also witnessed by Provincial Director Danilo Laguitan of DILG Northern Samar, Civil Military Operations Officer of 43IB with the receiving units from PNP held at the Headquarters, 8ID, Catbalogan City. (MMP/AND/43IB/8ID)
