Bong Go underscores importance of continuous vaccine drive to overcome pandemic as he sends aid to struggling individuals in Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija

PSAY CITY -- Bent on promoting the welfare of Filipinos, especially during these challenging times, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go sent his team to assist 852 vulnerable individuals, composed of barangay health workers and indigents, in Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija on Tuesday, April 5.

Go’s team carried out the activity at Barangay La Fuente Gym where they grouped the beneficiaries into smaller batches for a more efficient and safe distribution while the outreach team gave away masks and snacks.

Furthermore, Go’s staff provided bicycles, computer tablets, and shoes to select recipients while representatives from the Department of Social Welfare gave financial aid through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program.

In his video message, Go cited that even if COVID-19 cases are declining, it is still important for the public to continue adhering to the health precautions against COVID-19.

Senator Go, who serves as Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, reminded the eligible beneficiaries to avail of their jabs against COVID-19 to boost their defenses and protect themselves from the virus.

Aside from the aid given, the senator offered additional assistance to residents with health concerns as he advised them to visit any of the three Malasakit Centers in the province if they may need medical assistance.

The Malasakit Center was initiated by Go in 2018 with the aim of providing convenient medical assistance to poor and indigent patients by putting all concerned agencies under one roof, including DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. It was later institutionalized by Republic Act No. 11463 in 2019 which was principally authored and sponsored by the senator.

The centers in Nueva Ecija are located at Eduardo L. Joson Memorial Hospital and Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center, both in Cabanatuan City, and Talavera General Hospital in Talavera.

In line with his commitment to accelerate the services delivered in public hospitals such as PJGMRMC, Go sponsored a measure in the Senate that aims to increase the bed capacity of the hospital from 400 to 1,000 beds.

Being Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, the senator also committed to boost the economic development of the town as he extended his support to the construction of a multipurpose building at Barangay Rajal Centro and a multipurpose facility combined with an evacuation center at the Department of Education.

He likewise extended support in the rehabilitation of roads in Cabiao, General Tinio, Pantabangan, Zaragoza, and Cabanatuan City; construction of flood mitigation structures in General Tinio, San Antonio, and Zaragoza; construction of multi-purpose buildings in Gabaldon, Sta. Rosa and Cabanatuan City; reconstruction of the Llanera public market; rehabilitation of the Baloc public market; and installation of streetlights in Zaragoza.

“Mga kababayan ko, kami po ni Pangulong Duterte ay patuloy na magseserbisyo po sa inyong lahat sa abot ng aming makakaya. Kayo po ang nagbibigay lakas sa amin na makapagserbisyo pa po sa inyong lahat. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat,” he ended. (OSBG)
