Observance of the 80th anniversary of the Araw ng Kagitingan

QUEZON CITY- Department of Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra will lead this year’s commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Araw ng Kagitingan on 9 April 2022, 8:00 a.m. at the Dambana ng Kagitingan, Mt. Samat National Shrine, Pilar, Bataan with the theme, “Kagitingan ng mga Beterano, Inspirasyon ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino.”

Solemn ceremonial rites will be conducted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines. The national anthems of the Philippines, Japan, and United States of America will be played. Wreaths will be offered by DOJ Secretary Menardo, Embassy of Japan to the Philippines Ambassador Koshikawa Kazuhiko, and Embassy of the United States of America to the Philippines Chargé d’Affaires, i.a., Heather Variava. A high-speed opener pass will also be conducted by the AFP.

Most Revered Ruperto C. Santos, D.D. will deliver the invocation. Jose Payumo Memorial High School Grade 7 student Scheherazade P. Danoog will read the ceremonial tolling while Sons and Daughters Inc. of the Philippine Veterans Federation (VFP-SDAI) National Vice President Mr. Miguel Angelo C. Villa-Real will toll the bell.

Bataan Governor Albert S. Garcia will deliver his welcome remarks. Philippine Postal Corporation, Inc. Postmaster General Norman N. Fulgencio will present the Araw ng Kagitingan@80 commemorative stamp to DOJ Secretary Guevarra. After the presentation of the commemorative stamp, CDA Variava, and Amb. Koshikawa will deliver their messages, respectively.
