PASAY CITY -- On Wednesday, April 6, the Office of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go delivered assistance to 500 indigent residents in Navotas City.
In his video message during the activity held at the Navotas Elementary School, the senator once again appealed for continued public cooperation and vigilance as the fight against COVID-19 continues.
He likewise encouraged those eligible to participate in the national vaccination program, saying, “Ang bakuna po ang tanging susi o solusyon para unti-unti na tayong makabalik sa ating normal na pamumuhay. Huwag ho kayong matakot sa bakuna, matakot ho kayo sa COVID-19.”
Go’s team handed out meals and masks to the residents who were earlier grouped into smaller batches to ensure a well-organized distribution, in compliance with the mandated health and safety protocols.
In a separate distribution, the Department of Social Welfare and Development provided financial assistance to the residents as part of the ongoing efforts by the government to alleviate the burdens caused by the pandemic and other crises.
The senator then encouraged the beneficiaries to avail of the services of the Malasakit Centers should they need medical assistance.
As part of his commitment to improve healthcare services nationwide, Go primarily authored and sponsored the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019 which aims to give poor and indigent patients convenient access to the medical assistance programs offered by relevant agencies.
To date, there are 151 Malasakit Centers that have helped over three million Filipinos across the country.
Concluding his remarks, the senator commended the local leaders for working hand-in-hand to provide the necessary support for their constituents. He also encouraged them to remain dedicated in their service so their community can sooner recover.
As Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, Go has also supported several projects in Metro Manila to facilitate its development amid the pandemic, such as the rehabilitation of facilities in Navotas Polytechnic College in Navotas City.
Other initiatives include the construction of multipurpose buildings and halls in Caloocan City, Mandaluyong City, Quezon City and Parañaque City; acquisition of ambulance units in Manila City, Navotas City, Parañaque City, Taguig City and Valenzuela City; acquisition of multipurpose vehicles in Manila City and Muntinlupa City; and construction of a seven-story Valenzuela Center for Academic Excellence in Valenzuela City.
He also supported the construction of an advanced Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and vertical expansion of the new ER Building in East Avenue Medical Center, and the rehabilitation of the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center Road Network and the Veterans Memorial Medical Center Road Network in Quezon City.
Go was likewise instrumental in the improvement of Rizal Medical Center in Pasig City through the acquisition of medical equipment and the construction of a seven-story multi-specialty building inside the center. (OSBG)
