Philippine Red Cross quickens its response as it makes an emergency appeal for survivors of TS Agaton

MANDALUYONG CITY -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) made an emergency appeal for survivors of Tropical Storm (TS) Agaton on its Facebook page last Maundy Thursday, April 14, 2022.

Meanwhile, PRC Chairman and CEO, Senator Richard “Dick” J. Gordon, assured Filipinos that the Red Cross will assist TS Agaton survivors in the long term until they are able to recover.

“The Red Cross will be here for the long haul, as usual,” Chairman Gordon said.

Moreover, PRC assisted 67 individuals to evacuate and rescued another 99. It also continues to assist the government in the search and retrieval operations in landslides sites. As of April 16, 2022, a PRC water tanker has distributed 59,000 liters of water. Volunteers and staff have provided hygiene promotion education for 808 persons and hand sanitizer to 97 persons. They have served hot meals to 10,758 individuals. They have given ready-to-eat meals to 100 individuals and bottled water to 197 persons.

Trained staff and volunteers have facilitated psychosocial first aid (PFA) for 473 adults and child-friendly activities designed as PFA for 94 children. The PRC has six welfare desks in TD Agaton-affected areas. Ambulance teams deployed in the areas served 736 individuals who had their blood pressure taken, provided emergency medical treatment to 13 persons, and transported one patient. The first aid volunteers treated seven individuals.

“The Red Cross is doing its very best, alongside the government, to provide relief,” Chairman Gordon said. (Philippine Red Cross)
