Bong Go’s office distributes aid to indigent families in Tiaong, Quezon

PASAY CITY -- Senator Christopher “Bong” Go continues to give struggling Filipinos a boost as his team distributed aid to indigent residents in Tiaong, Quezon on Thursday, April 21.

In his video message, Go once again called on the public to continue trusting and supporting the government's pandemic efforts and urged those eligible to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

“Mga kababayan ko, habang patuloy na pong dumarating ang mga bakuna, pakiusap lang ho namin ni Pangulong (Rodrigo) Duterte, magtiwala ho kayo sa bakuna. Pinaghirapan po ito ng gobyerno - ang mga bakuna, kaya po huwag niyo pong sayangin ang oportunidad, magpabakuna na po kayo,” he appealed.

To ensure the safety of the 1,100 residents in attendance at the Woodburn Garden, Barangay Paiisa, the senator's outreach team grouped the beneficiaries into smaller batches and strictly enforced the necessary health protocols.

The team handed out shirts, meals and masks to the residents. They also provided new pairs of shoes, bicycles and phablets to select individuals.

Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development distributed financial assistance.

As part of his commitment to improve access to quality healthcare services, Go advised the residents to visit the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City where there is a Malasakit Center available to help them settle their hospital bills.

Otherwise known as the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, Republic Act No. 11463 mandates the establishment of Malasakit Centers in all hospitals administered and managed by the Department of Health to ensure that poor and indigent patients can conveniently access medical assistance programs by the DSWD, DOH, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

“Mayroon na tayong 151 na Malasakit Center sa buong Pilipinas. Ang Malasakit Center ay batas na isinulong ko na pinirmahan ni Pangulong Duterte upang maging mas mabilis at maayos ang serbisyong pang medikal para sa mga Pilipino,” said Go, who is the principal author and sponsor of RA 11463.

To help boost infrastructure development and the local economy, Go has supported the funding of various projects in Tiaong including the improvement and maintenance of its primary roads.

He also supported other initiatives in Quezon province, such as the maintenance of the primary roads in Candelaria, Sariaya and Lucena City; construction of concrete roads in Candelaria, Calauag, Dolores and San Antonio; and construction or rehabilitation of the multipurpose buildings in Lucena City, Alabat, Candeleria, General Nakar, Infanta, Lucban and Mauban, among others.

Go also supported the funding for the establishment of the Quezon Research and Extension Complex Project at Catanauan, construction of the Ospital ng San Antonio, and conversion of the Municipal Health Center of Lucban to the Municipal Infirmary Hospital - Lucban.

Concluding his message, Go lauded the local officials for their hard work and commitment to serve their constituents amid the global health crisis. (OSBG)
