PASAY CITY -- In line with his commitment to assist vulnerable individuals impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go extended support to indigent families in Sariaya, Quezon on Friday, April 22.
The senator’s team distributed aid to 833 residents at the Sariaya Sports Complex. The team handed out shirts, meals and masks. They also provided new pairs of shoes, bicycles and phablets to select individuals.
Aside from Go’s team, personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development also provided each resident with financial assistance in keeping with the government efforts to mitigate the adverse impacts of COVID-19.
In his video message, Go once again called on the public to continue trusting and supporting the government's pandemic efforts and urged those eligible to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
“Mga kababayan ko, habang patuloy na pong dumarating ang mga bakuna, pakiusap lang ho namin ni Pangulong (Rodrigo) Duterte, magtiwala ho kayo sa bakuna. Pinaghirapan po ito ng gobyerno - ang mga bakuna, kaya po huwag niyo pong sayangin ang oportunidad, magpabakuna na po kayo,” he appealed.
To help assuage their plight, Go, as Chair of the Senate Committee on Health, offered additional assistance to any resident in need of medical treatment. He also encouraged those struggling to pay their hospital and medical expenses to avail of government aid from the Malasakit Center at the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City.
The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop where patients can conveniently avail of medical assistance from DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. There are now 151 Malasakit Centers nationwide.
“Kung mayro’n po kayong mga pasyente na kailangan ng tulong o dalhin sa Maynila, magsabi lang kayo. Tutulungan namin kayo pati sa pamasahe. Handa kaming tumulong ni Pangulong Duterte sa inyo sa abot ng aming makakaya,” reassured Go, who is the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019.
