PASAY CITY -- Senator Christopher “Bong” Go renewed his appeal to eligible yet unvaccinated Filipinos to get inoculated and boosted against COVID-19 as he underscored that vaccines are key to accelerate the country’s return to normalcy.
In a video message during the distribution activities in Mabini and Garcia Hernandez, Bohol on Monday, April 25, the senator noted that the government has secured enough vaccine supply for qualified Filipinos. He then urged the eligible public anew to participate in the vaccination program to boost their protection against COVID-19 and keep their respective communities safe.
Senator Go’s team conducted the distributions at the Malinao, Datag, Abijilan, Manaba and Cupa covered courts in Garcia Hernandez; and Poblacion II covered court in Mabini, where they provided masks and snacks to 3,264 disadvantaged residents from various sectoral groups. They also gave new pairs of shoes, bikes and phablets to select individuals.
In addition, representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development provided financial aid through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program.
Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority extended livelihood support and scholarship grants, respectively, to those who qualified after assessments.
The senator offered additional assistance to those with health concerns as he encouraged them to visit the Malasakit Centers in the province located at the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) in Tagbilaran City and Don Emilio del Valle Memorial Hospital in Ubay.
The Malasakit Centers program was initiated by Go in 2018 to help poor and indigent patients by bringing together in one office the relevant agencies that offer medical assistance programs, such as the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation. The senator is the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019. There are now 151 Malasakit Centers nationwide.
