MANILA -- To foster better coordination and partnership, the Bureau of Customs - Port of NAIA (BOC-NAIA) on April 2022 conducted a governance sharing activity with the Philippine National Police Intelligence and Foreign Liaison Division- Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-IFLD-DEG).
PNP-IFLD-DEG was represented by Division Chief PCOL.Rolando P. Portera and PLT. Mayolo Pastrana Jr. On the part of BOC-NAIA, the team was represented by District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan with the warehouse chiefs.
The meeting focused on both agency's various functions and duties in terms of border security against the entry of illegal drugs. The PNP and BOC-NAIA also shared their best practices to which BOC NAIA higlighted the Port's successful anti-illegal drug campaign which totalled to 172 successful drug busts from 2018 to present.
In his statement, PCOL. Portera stressed the need for strengthened cooperation between partner agencies to ensure the efficient sharing of information and effective implementation of border protection processes.
As part of the thrust of BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero to support the campaign against illegal drugs, BOC-NAIA shall remain at the forefront of border security and prevent the entry of illegal drugs and other precursors. (BOC)
