QUEZON CITY — In an effort to bolster relationship with the private sector, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has finalized a key pact with SM Development Corporation (SMDC) that will pave the way for the establishment of one of the former's regional offices.
On Thursday afternoon, DHSUD Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario and SMDC President Jose Mari Banzon signed a Memorandum of Agreement on the construction of the Department's new three-story regional office in Koronadal City through the private developer’s incentivized compliance to balance housing program.
The housing czar expressed appreciation to SMDC and SM Prime Holdings for extending support in constructing the new building, saying the Department truly welcomes the private developer's initiative as it will allow DHSUD to further expand its presence in the localities.
"We are very thankful to SM Prime, to the SMDC President, for granting this and providing the budget utilizing their balanced housing compliance in Region 12," Secretary Del Rosario stressed.
"On behalf of the officers and employees of the Department, thank you very much," the DHSUD chief noted.
Secretary Del Rosario said the new office in Koronadal City will also ensure better delivery of shelter-related services to the region. He likewise bared that Ayala Land Corporation has also signified intent to fund the construction of other DHSUD regional offices, indicating booming ties between the government and private sector.
For his part, Banzon thanked DHSUD for the opportunity to stamp its mark and be part of the Department's legacy through this agreement. He also vowed to continue supporting the government, through DHSUD, in its programs aimed at empowering the housing and urban development sector.
SMDC Vice President for Business Planning and Development Armenia Ballesteros, DHSUD Undersecretary Marylin Pintor, Assistant Secretary Daryll Villanueva, Housing and Real Estate Development and Regulation Bureau OIC-Director Angelito Aguila and Public Assistance Service Director Mario Mallari witnessed the momentous occasion.
