BUTUAN CITY – In its letter received on May 13, 2022, the Philippine Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) granted accreditation to the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Caraga as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Provider for Caraga Region.
The accreditation granted NNC Caraga the authority to conduct trainings, seminars and fora with corresponding CPD units for a number of professions upon proper application with the PRC.
Programs and courses to be offered with CPD units includes, but not limited to, Nutrition Program Management (NPM) Training, Local Nutrition Action Planning (LNAP) Workshop, and Nutrition in Emergencies-Information Management (NIE-IM) Training.
Republic Act No. 10912 known as the Continuing Professional Development Act of 2016, mandates the continuing promotion and strengthening of professional development for all regulated professions which aims to upgrade the practice of professions in the country.
The Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) provides that a CPD provider shall apply for accreditation of its program to the CPD Council.
In-house training programs and capacity-building activities can now be offered with appropriate CPD units that participants will receive as proof of continuing professional development, a requirement for the renewal of licenses of the professionals.
NNC Caraga is now complying with the documentary and other necessary requirements for the offering of programs and courses with CPD units. (RPOchavo, NNC-Caraga/PIA-Caraga)
