PASAY CITY -- During the relief efforts conducted by his office in Lupao and Carranglan, Nueva Ecija on Friday, May 20, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go renewed his call to the government to intensify its vaccination efforts to ensure that more Filipinos are protected from COVID-19, especially in remote areas.
An adopted son of Nueva Ecija, Go also urged the eligible residents to participate in the national vaccination drive to safeguard themselves and help their community recover faster from the pandemic.
“Huwag po tayong matakot sa bakuna, matakot tayo sa COVID-19. Ang bakuna ang susi para unti-unti na tayong makabalik sa normal nating pamumuhay. Kaya pakiusap namin ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, magtiwala tayo sa gobyerno at sa bakuna para makabalik na tayo sa noon kung saan puwede nating mayakap ang ating kapwa Pilipino,” Go said in a video message.
His relief team distributed meals and masks to 612 struggling residents at the municipal gym in Lupao and Pimaco Pag-asa gymnasium in Carranglan. They also gave select individuals phablets, shoes and bicycles.
Meanwhile, a team from the Department of Social Welfare and Development distributed livelihood assistance through its Sustainable Livelihood Program.
To help those with medical concerns, Go, who serves as Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, encouraged them to visit any of the three Malasakit Centers in the province. There 151 operational centers nationwide.
The Malasakit Center aims to provide convenient access to the medical assistance programs of the government by bringing under one roof the desk representatives of the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
The Malasakit Centers in the province are located at Eduardo L. Joson Memorial Hospital and Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center, both in Cabanatuan City, and Talavera General Hospital in Talavera.
