DTI conducts business continuity planning workshop to BCCI

NAVAL, Biliran -- The Department of Trade and Industry - Biliran Provincial Office (DTI Biliran) conducted a Business Continuity Planning Workshop in time of the Biliran Chamber of Commerce (BCCI) Assembly on May 20 at @Zero, Brgy. Atipolo, Naval, Biliran.

The activity aims to increase awareness on Business Continuity Management and Disaster Risk Reduction Management among BCCI members.

In his welcome message, Christopher Ang, president of BCCI said the objective of the said activity was to capacitate the 20 BCCI members in order to ensure their continued business operations in times of calamities.

"Having Business Continuity Plans (BCP) on cloud storage ensures sustainability of an MSME despite untoward disruptions," Faustino V. Gayas Jr., OIC Biliran provincial director, said in his opening message.

Gayas also shared the various DTI assistance to Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSME) available per level of the Enterprise Development Tracking (EDT) framework in support of the National MSMED Plan 2017-2022.

The participants were capacitated on excel-based BCP Workbook, adapting the National Resilience Council (NRC) MSME Guide to Disaster Resilience.

Outputs of the participants will be stored in a cloud archive, said Gayas, who also served as the lead facilitator of the workshop and the author of the BCP electronic workbook.

The participants rated the activity "very satisfactory" as they were able to identify resilient strategies to mitigate unlikely impact of possible disaster and calamities, eventually sustaining their income and preventing losses and other untoward damage.

The activity was also attended by Rebecca Cormanes, supervising trade and industry specialist; Lelibeth Sison, trade and industry development analyst; Elsie Corpin, Biliran Negosyo Center business counselor; and Albert Tambis, Caibiran Negosyo Center business counselor. (DTI Biliran)
