PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur -- A total of 44 former rebels (FRs) from the different municipalities of Agusan del Sur undergone an orientation on Livelihood Settlement Grant (LSG) Program and a seminar on Financial Literacy and Business Management held on April 27, in the municipality of Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
The LSG refers to the financial assistance provided to affected families and/or displaced persons due to armed conflicts.
Each of the returnees will receive PhP20,000, which will be used to finance their proposed projects, such as livestock production, merchandising, and farming, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said during the orientation.
It is said these projects will be assessed by DSWD and provided with a corresponding budget through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) under Executive Order (EO) 70, series of 2018.
In line with the project implementation, participants are informed of the concept of financial freedom- mastering the aspects of income, budget, emergency fund, investments, and desires. The familiarity with these aspects will help define their financial goals and help improve their success, DTI said during the seminar.
The activity was spearheaded by the DSWD under Alvin Bajao, LSG provincial coordinator, in partnership with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Razel Montemor, Department of Trade and Industry-Agusan del Sur, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH).
