8ID’s ‘Hinirang’ troops donate blood to save lives

SAN JOSE DE BUAN, Samar -- The 87th Infantry (Hinirang) Battalion (87IB) of the 8th Infantry Division (8ID) took part in the blood-letting activity held at the Samar National School in Catbalogan City on June 5.

The activity was facilitated by the Catbalogan City Youth for Disaster Risk Management, which is now on their 7th batch of blood-letting activities in partnership with different health institutions and hospitals in Catbalogan City.

The 87IB under the leadership of Lt. Col. Luzelito Q. Betinol, commanding officer, together with police and civilian volunteers, took part in the meaningful endeavor.

The 87IB’s participation is part of the unit’s initiatives to strengthen ties and partnership with various stakeholders.

Personnel from 87IB and members of CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) participated in the activity purposely to help augment the blood requirement of the different partner health care institutions and hospitals in Catbalogan City.

Blood donation is one of the unit’s advocacies to help the troops, Civilian Human Resources, their dependents, and all other stakeholders in need of immediate blood supply.

“The continuous support of donors is a promotion of voluntary blood donation for us to provide sufficient, immediate and free supply of blood that would save lives every single day. This endeavor will surely come back to us all with greater value,” said Betinol.

A total of 45 bags (500cc each) was collected during the blood-letting drive. (87IB/8ID)
