The Province of Siquijor culminated the month-long celebration of Farmers and Fisherfolks Month with a display of bountiful harvest from farmers and fisherfolks.
With more than 300 attendees, employees from the agriculture sector, farmers, and fisherfolks gathered at the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist to witness and participate in the activity that started with a motorcade.

Various vegetable and fruit products like onion, watermelon, squash, dragon fruit, cucumber, and seafood products were sold at an affordable price, replicating the concept of "KADIWA ni Ani at Kita."
Farmers and fisherfolks from the six municipalities also showcased their singing, dancing, and poetry talents.
Three lucky winners have also brought home three piglets in the raffle draw sponsored by the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO).
Governor and Congressman-elect Zaldy Villa attended the activity to personally compliment the attendees and recognized them for their continuous effort to make food available to every Siquijodnon, adding that he himself is a farmer.
Villa said it is the intention of his leadership to further promote backyard gardening and reduce prices of agricultural commodities.

He also thanked the Department of Agriculture for their support to empower farmers and fisherfolks to increase productivity and profitability.
Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members Leonardo Lingcay and Jaime Balesco also lauded the farmers and fisherfolks and promised their continuous support to the agriculture sector.
Provincial Agriculturist Emigdio Coritico and Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Jhea Manginsay, in their message, also acknowledged the works of the farmers and fisherfolks in ensuring food security in the island province of Siquijor.
DA Siquijor Research and Development Center Officer in Charge Chief Rodolfo Anulacion also recognized the role of farmers and fisherfolks in ensuring food security, sustainability, availability, and affordability.
The activity was led by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Provincial Veterinary Office with the DA Provincial Agricultural Technology Coordinating office, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, and municipal agricultural offices.
Also present were personnel from the Philippine Coconut Authority, Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, Agricultural Training Institute, National Irrigation Administration, and the Department of Trade and Industy. (MJB/DA-PATCO/PR)
