QUEZON CITY -- The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Office of CIvil Defense (OCD) thanked stakeholders for joining the Second Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) today, June 9, 2022.
NDRRMC Chairperson and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana in his keynote message urged the public to continuously support and engage in preparedness activities.
“Ang pagpapatuloy ng mga pagsasanay na ito ang nagbibigay kapanatagan sa ating mga mamamayan na ang ating pamahalaan at buong lipunan ay may kakayahan at hindi tumitigil sa paghahanda upang harapin ang mga kalamidad na maaaring danasin ng ating bayan.” he said.
“Hinihimok ko ang lahat na patuloy na makilahok sa susunod na earthquake drills na pangungunahan ng NDRRMC sa taong 2022. Gayundin sa maraming proyekto ng pamahalaan laban sa ibat ibang sakuna.” he added.
Today’s NSED has around 17,300 concurrent viewers and recorded 105,432 views, and 80,380 engagements, one hour after the livestream ended. This was the 8th earthquake drill held via online.
Meanwhile, NDRRMC Executive Director and Civil Defense Administrator, USEC Ricardo Jalad in his opening message emphasized the importance of a united effort in the attainment of making communities ready and safe.
“Malaki ang nagagawa ng ating pagtutulungan sa pagsasakatuparan ng ating adhikaing gawing mas ligtas ang bawat komunidad. Malinaw na nakikita natin ito sa pamamagitan ng inyong palaging pagsali ating gawain na nagpapakita ng patuloy na pag-unlad ng kamalayan at kahandaan ng sambayanan. nais naming mas mapayabong pa ito.” he said.
Department of Labor and Employment Sec. Silvestro Bello, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Sec. Eduardo Del Rosario, Department of Interior and Local Government Sec. Eduardo Año, Department of Social Welfare and Development Sec. Rolando Joselito Bautista, Department of Science and Technology Undersecretary Renato Solidum Jr., Civil Defense Deputy Administrator and Assistant Secretary Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV, at Trade Union Congress of the Philippines President Raymond Democrito Mendoza also gave their messages of support.
NSED is a quarterly event that seeks to strengthen the earthquake preparedness of the public. Due to the pandemic, the conduct of the earthquake drill was moved online in 2020.
