BOI urges cold chain industry stakeholders to take survey, data gathering to serve as basis for prioritizing interventions and assistance for the industry

MANILA -- The Philippine Board of Investments (BOI), as Co-Chair of the National Cold Chain Committee (NC3), is calling concerned stakeholders in the cold chain sector to participate in the online survey to develop the integrated supply chain database system.

To answer the survey, Cold Storage Warehouse (CSW) stakeholders can go to this link: https://s.surveyanyplace.com/ ph_coldchain, while Support Service Facility or SSF (pertains to slaughterhouses, meat cutting/processing plants, dressing plants, trading posts, fish landing areas and bagsakan centers) stakeholders, through https://s.surveyanyplace.com/ ph_tradingpost.

Last February, the BOI, the DENR-Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), and InsightSCS Corp. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop a cold chain integrated supply chain solution in the Philippines, in a project called, – the “Development of a Cold Chain Integrated Supply Chain Solution for Evidence-based Policy Making and Investment Programming.”

As the project is now in the data collection stage, determining the pulse of the stakeholders is pertinent to identify the specific locations where interventions and investment promotions should be prioritized. The gathered data will be validated, processed and populated by InsightSCS Corp., the developer of the DeliverE platform.

Serving as one of the priority action plans of the Technical Working Group (TWG) on Cold Chain Services, the said project is a database that will map out existing cold chain service providers, estimate and forecast supply and demand for cold chain service.

Prior to the signing of the MOU, the BOI and its partner industry stakeholders previously launched in 2020 the “Philippine Cold Chain Industry Roadmap,” an inclusive, stakeholder-driven and market-oriented roadmap that will guide the industry towards the “new better normal” as the country rebuilds its economy.

Once completed, the project will provide a data-driven, location-specific and timely reference for policy formulation and investments promotion. Under the Philippine Cold Chain Industry Roadmap, the country needs to beef up its cold storage capacity by at least 50,000 pallet positions every year in the short-term. (BOI)
