NAVAL, Biliran -- The Department of Public Works and Highways Biliran District Engineering Office (DPWH-BDEO) has been awarded as the 4th top performing District Engineering Office (DEO) in Region 8 for successfully implementing the DPWH Development Communication (DevCom) Plan for CY 2021.

DPWH DevComm Program is an information dissemination drive of the department with the goal to deliver transparency to the public on the agency’s programs, projects, and activities.

The award, through a certificate of recognition, was bestowed to District Engineer Ferdinand A. Briones by DPWH-8 Regional Director Allan S. Borromeo with Assistant Regional Director David P. Adongay Jr. during its Regional Staff Meeting at the DPWH Eastern Samar DEO in Borongan City on June 9. 

Out of the 13 DEOs in Region 8, the award was given to the top 5 performers which are the Samar 1st DEO, Calbayog City (1st place); Eastern Samar DEO, Borongan City (2nd place); Northern Samar 2nd DEO, Catarman, Northern Samar (3rd place); Biliran DEO, Naval, Biliran (4th place); and Northern Samar 1st DEO, Catarman, Northern Samar (5th place).

Since 2012, DPWH-BDEO has been consistently included in the top five best performing DEOs in Region 8 under the DevComm Program.

“This award is an affirmation that BDEO is consistent with the goal of promoting public appreciation of the Department’s projects and programs towards nation-building,” said Briones.

Briones also commended its Public Information Officers headed by Frechbee L. Sabili and Chelsea Quijano-Salloman for their exemplary leadership that contributed to the successful implementation of DPWH’s Development Communication Program.

“We are grateful that our efforts and dedication towards our work have been recognized through this award and we are more motivated to deliver beyond what is expected of us in order to provide the public with timely and relevant information of what our office is doing,” said Salloman.

Among the reportorial requirements submitted monthly under DevComm includes newsletters, news clippings, media monitoring/action, flyers, briefing materials, lobby board display, annual accomplishment, special reports, project inspection reports, and other important information materials in support to the information, education and communication program of the department.
