Philippine Red Cross comes to the aid of passengers of vessel that caught fire in Bohol

MANDALUYONG CITY -- Volunteers and staff of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Bohol and Hilongos chapters provided assistance to the passengers of Mama Mary, a passenger vessel that caught fire at sea, between Ubay, Bohol and Bato, Leyte on June 26, 2022.

The vessel had 165 passengers, including the crew. Red Cross emergency response and relief personnel provided aid in the form of an ambulance unit with trained emergency medical services (EMS) personnel and a Welfare Desk at the Ubay Port in Bohol. They administered psychosocial first aid (PFA) to adults, set up child-friendly space for PFA to children, and assisted in restoring family links.

“Patuloy na gagawin ng Philippine Red Cross ang lahat ng aming makakaya para maging laging una, laging handa, at laging nandyan para sa ating mga kababayan,” Philippine Red Cross Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon said. (Philippine Red Cross)
