MANDALUYONG CITY -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Hemodialysis Center joins the nation in observing the National Kidney Month this June with the theme “Batong Malakas sa Panibagong Bukas.”
According to the National Kidney and Transplant Institute website, one (1) Filipino develops chronic renal failure every hour, or around 120 for every one million people.
The PRC Hemodialysis Center was established in November 2018 with support from the Tokushukai Medical Group. PRC Chairman and CEO Senator Richard J. Gordon envisioned the Center to serve indigent patients. As of June 28, 2022, the Center has conducted 15,500 treatments.
PRC Chairman Senator Richard J. Gordon echoes the recommendations of nephrologists to get blood tested for creatinine and a urinalysis every six months. A history of kidney injury or an increase in creatinine levels may necessitate more frequent tests.
Those who may need to avail of the services of PRC’s Dialysis Facility may send an email to prchemodialysis@redcross.org.ph to get more details on how to avail of PRC’s services. (Philippine Red Cross )
