PASAY CITY -- Senator Christopher "Bong" Go has committed to push for measures that will ensure the efficient and dependable delivery of government services to Filipinos.
Go said that the measures he filed were based on his assessments of the most pressing needs of Filipinos as a result of his work with the national government and as the former aide of then president Rodrigo Duterte for more than 20 years.
Among these measures include a bill establishing the Department of Disaster Resilience; a bill providing for the establishment of an evacuation center in all cities, provinces and municipalities; a measure creating a National Housing Development Production and Financing Program; and a measure establishing a housing and social protection program for Filipinos.
He also filed health bills providing free annual medical check-up and dialysis to Filipinos; Advanced Nursing Education Bill; a bill establishing an Emergency Medical Services System; bills establishing the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the Virology Science and Technology Institute of the Philippines; a bill providing benefits and compensation to Barangay Health Workers; and a bill which seeks to establish Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Centers nationwide.
Go also filed a measure providing for a magna carta for Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency personnel; a bill on e-governance; a measure seeking to enact the “Magna Carta for Barangays”; and a bill providing free legal assistance to Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police enlisted personnel.
To promote economic security in the country, he filed the "One Town One Product” bill which seeks to promote innovation among micro, small, and medium enterprises; a bill amending the Insurance Code; and a measure providing Employment Assistance for displaced workers.
Finally, the senator also filed a bill creating the Philippine National Games.
As chair of the Senate Committee on Health, Go stated that he would like to pay special emphasis to enhancing the nation's healthcare system, taking the lessons learned during the pandemic.
In addition, the senator would like to boost the recovery of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises because of their importance and contribution to the country’s economy.
Go also committed to carry on Duterte's legacy of a tough stance against illegal drugs and promote the development of sports in the country.
He then gave the Filipino people his word that he would keep pushing for legislation in the Senate that would continue the positive changes started by the previous administration.
Finally, Go expressed his support to the Marcos Administration by doing everything in his power to serve the nation and every Filipino.
Entering the second half of his term as Senator, Go has so far authored 12 measures and principally sponsored 70 bills that were all enacted into law. He also co-authored 20 laws and co-sponsored 101 other laws.
“Noong nakaraang 18th Congress, masaya akong ibahagi na meron akong isang dosenang panukalang nai-file na naisabatas, katulad ng Malasakit Centers Act, Salary Standardization 5, Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections Postponement, Department of Migrant Workers, Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization, Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act, National Academy of Sports, Southeast Asian University of Technology, Metropolitan Davao Development Authority, Allowances and Benefits for Healthcare Workers, Marawi Siege Victims Compensation at Extending Voters Registration,” he enumerated.
(OSBG)
