MANDALUYONG CITY -- Under the direction of Philippine Red Cross Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon, the humanitarian organization's Cebu Chapter distributed collapsible jerry cans and aquatabs solution to 606 households from Barangays Mantayupan and Gunting in Barili, Cebu this week, in response to rising dengue and typhoid fever cases in those areas.
Prior to the distribution, volunteers and staff of the Red Cross Cebu Chapter disseminated information on safe water storage and proper use of aquatabs solution, facilitated a learning session on personal hygiene and environmental sanitation, and conducted an information campaign on dengue prevention.
Last week, the Cebu Chapter also gave 25 cot beds to the Infirmary and District Hospital in Barili to support the medical facilities as they take in more patients because of the increase in dengue and typhoid cases.
"Ang aming volunteers at staff sa Philippine Red Cross ay ginagawa ang lahat ng aming makakaya para maging laging una, laging handa, at laging nandyan para sa ating mga kababayan sa anumang emergency," PRC Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon said. (Philippine Red Cross)
