PPA implements automation of clients database

QUEZON CITY -- Parole and Probation Administration (PPA) started to implement automation of its client database through the development of the different information systems relative to the rehabilitation of the probationers, parolees and pardonees.

Developed by the Agency through the Case Management and Records Division (CMRD), these information systems include lnvestigation and Supervision of Parole and Executive Clemency lnformation System (ISPECIS), Probation lnformation System (PlS), Parole and Probation Case Management lnformation System (PPCMIS), Pefformance Monitoring and Evaluation lnformation System (PMEIS) and Human Resource Management and Development lnformation System (HRMDIS).

To achieve the mission and vision of the Agency and to keep up with the current trend of utilizing digital infrastructure in obtaining vital information, the PPA conceptualized and proposed the digitization of its client database.

The said information systems were developed to improve the public service delivery of the PPA through reduced time in report preparation in investigation and supervision; consistent monitoring of the status of cases handled by the field officers; efficient identification of rehabilitation programs participated in by the clients and sustainable maintenance of case history of clients for easier retrieval of case records.

According to CMRD, PPCMIS is already in full implementation while the PIS is on its pilot implementation stage and roll out. The rest of the information system is nearing development completion.

To date, the Agency has 114,107 active supervision cases while 104,608 investigation cases were handled from January to December 2021 . On the other hand, the Agency was able to handle a total of 505,790 supervision cases from 1978 to 2021.

The formal launching of the information systems on July 22, 2022 will be one of the highlights of the PPA 46th founding anniversary celebration on July 1 8-24,2022.

The celebration with a theme "PPA @ 46: Embracing New Normal Towards the Journey of Adaptable Governance with Professionalism, Performance and Accountability will also include other activities such as tree planting, thanksgiving mass, seminar, visit to historical sites in the City of Manila, conduct of indoor and outdoor games and PRAISE awards.

PPA is an attached agency of the Department of Justice (DOJ) tasked to conserve and/or redeem convicted offenders and prisoners who are under the probation or parole system. lt was established through the signing of Presidential Decree No. 968 or the Probation Law of 1976. The PPA has three major services namely investigation, supervision and rehabilitation. (PPA)
