TACLOBAN CITY -- The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office VIII (PSA-RSSO 8) will hold the 2022 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Press Launch at Granda Manor, Tacloban City on Monday, 08 August 2022, from noon to 4 p.m. and will be livestreamed at PSA-RSSO 8’s official Facebook Page (@PSAEVOfficial).
The event will officially declare the nationwide rollout of the PSA-led CBMS which will operationalize in selected cities and municipalities across the country in August 2022. This will be highlighted by an interactive forum with members of the local media to be moderated by the Philippine Information Agency - Regional Office VIII.
The press launch will be guested by the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
The DILG, as CBMS Council member-agency, is tasked to ensure compliance of the Local Government Units (LGUs) in various CBMS activities. Meanwhile, DICT is the primary administrative body of the government that provides technical assistance in the development and maintenance of the CBMS portal and databank.
As a statistical activity, the CBMS entails a census of households to be undertaken by the LGUs with the participation of the community. Data that will be generated by the CBMS will serve as basis in targeting households for government programs geared towards poverty alleviation and economic development.
By virtue of RA 11315, otherwise known as the “Community-Based Monitoring
System (CBMS) Act” signed into law on 17 April 2019, PSA is mandated to implement the CBMS through its Community-Based Statistics Service of the Censuses and Technical Coordination Office.
The office assures the public that during the press launch, required public health and safety measures to contain COVID-19 will be strictly observed such as wearing of face mask, physical distancing, proper hygiene and sanitation.
