PALO, Leyte -- The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) VIII, as the Secretariat of the RDC VIII, pursuant to Executive Order (EO) No. 325, Series of 1996, also known as the “Reorganization of the Regional Development Councils,” announces the start of the selection of the 15 RDC VIII PSRs for the 2022-2025 term of office.

The RDC is the highest policy-making body in the region. EO 325 provides that one fourth of the fully constituted Council shall come from the private sector and their term shall coincide with the term of the local elective officials. Thus, the term of the RDC VIII PSRs for 2019-2022 ended on 30 June 2022. 

The selection of RDC VIII PSRs for the 2022-2025 term of office is in accordance with the RDC VIII Resolution No. 50-A, Series of 2022 entitled Approving and Adopting the Guidelines on the Selection of RDC VIII Private Sector Representatives (PSRs) and the RDC VIII Resolution No. 50-B, Series of 2022 entitled Approving the Sectoral Allocations of One-Fourth Membership of the Private Sector in the RDC VIII for the 2022-2025 Term of Office.

The RDC VIII Secretariat is inviting private sector organizations (PSOs) in the region to participate in the selection process, specifically those under the following sectors: Health and Nutrition; Basic Education; Persons with Special Concerns (Women, Children, Youth, PWDs, Senior Citizens); Multimedia Communication; Labor; Tourism; Infrastructure and Logistics; Information and Communications Technology (ICT); Energy; Disaster Resiliency; Environment; Agriculture and Fisheries; Trade and Industry; Financial Intermediation and Management; and Research and Development and Innovation.

PSOs qualified to participate in the selection of RDC VIII PSRs must be Filipino owned, duly recognized by the Securities and Exchange Commission or any  government agency that registers organizations and associations for the purpose of  bestowing legal personality, and must have conducted socio-economic activities for at  least three years from date of registration in the region.

Interested PSOs may submit their nomination to the Head of the RDC VIII Secretariat, NEDA VIII Regional Director Meylene C. Rosales, NEDA Regional Office VIII,  Government Center, Palo, Leyte through email rdc8@nro8.neda.gov.ph cc:  nro8@neda.gov.ph. The deadline for submission of nominations is 01 September 2022.

As part of the RDC accreditation process, the Secretariat will evaluate the profile/ background of the participating PSO. Qualified nominating PSOs and their nominees will be notified and invited for the election of PSRs on 06 September 2022.
